On Thursday, August 27th, Atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel will come to St. Louis to benefit the West County Charitable Endowment (WCCE).  Strobel will speak at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton, MO beginning with an informal ‘Meet and Greet Reception’ at 6 p.m., followed by a sit-down dinner and presentation at 7 p.m.  Tickets for the Meet and Greet Reception are $50 per person. Tickets for the dinner and presentation are $60 per person.  Seating is limited and group tickets are available.  Tickets are available on-line through iTickets.com and can be charged by phone by calling 1-800-965-9324.  For more information call (314) 368-6861.

Strobel will be sharing a unique blend of insights and biblical truth that will leave the audience informed and wanting more.  Described by the Washington Post as “one of the evangelical community’s most popular apologists,” Lee has won numerous awards for his literary works, both Christian and secular.

Strobel was educated at the University of Missouri where he received his Bachelor of Journalism degree in 1974, and earned a Master of Studies in Law degree in 1979 from Yale Law School.  In recognition of his extensive research for his books, Southern Evangelical Seminary honored Lee with the conferring of a Doctor of Divinity degree in 2007.  He was a professional journalist for 14 years at the Chicago Tribune and other newspapers, winning Illinois’ top honors for investigative reporting and public service journalism from United Press International.

The former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune, Strobel is also a New York Times best-selling author of more than twenty books and has shared the prestigious ‘Kip’ Jordan Christian Book of the Year award in 2005 for a curriculum he co-authored about the movie The Passion of the Christ.  He has also won awards for the books The Case for Christ, The Case for Faith, The Case for a Creator and Inside the Mind of Unchurched Harry and Mary.  Lee was also the executive producer and host of the weekly national network television program Faith Under Fire and has been interviewed on many other programs including ABC’s 20/20, Fox News and CNN.

Founded in 2008, The West County Charitable Endowment (which is sponsoring the Strobel event) encourages and supports the strengthening of faith through missionary education, and the growth and expansion of churches. WCCE was developed exclusively for charitable, religious and educational purposes.

“In addition to the other purposes of the West County Charitable Endowment, it’s our desire to raise the Christian community’s awareness of the importance of defending our faith from the rising tide of antagonistic, secular thought. To that end, we are bringing in top-flight Christian thinkers, such as Lee Strobel. But we also want to encourage men and women of faith to invest in the future of our culture through gifts given to the endowment, which will continue to pay dividends in future years,” said Pastor Jared Stoner, member of the Board of Directors for the WCCE.
