The Family Vision Library will present a Children’s Story Hour from 10 to 11 a.m. with Diana Thrower as their guest presenter. There will be snacks for everyone.  Please call to sign up and reserve your seat.  This is for all ages but best suited for children up to age 10. The Family Vision Library will host a Friday Night Singles Social-Coffee House-Discussion Group from 7 until 9 p.m.  This is open to young people 18 years old and up and will be a great way to meet other Christian young people and to engage the culture with a Christian Worldview. St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Creve Coeur at the corner of Olive and Warson Roads (9801 Olive), in co-operation with the American Red Cross will sponsor a Blood Drive from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 22nd. For more information on this event, contact the church office, (314) 993-0015. Missouri Second District Congressman Todd Akin will host his 12th Annual Old Fashioned Independence Day Family Picnic starting at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a fantastic evening featuring War for Independence cannon, re-enactors, a fife & drum corps, the story of America’s founding by a 1775 patriot from Concord, Massachusetts, honors ceremony for those who defend our freedoms, a fabulous potluck picnic and much, much more. This event is for the entire family. Those attending are asked to bring food to share, a lawn chair or blanket and dress casually. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms and those wishing to dress in period appropriate costumes are also encouraged to do so. This event will be held at the Akin residence which is located off of Conway Rd. (Hwy. 141 & Conway) on Conway Hill Rd. Parking with shuttle service will be available. The Family Vision Library, located at 516 South Fifth Street in St. Charles, MO will host their 3rd Annual Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social in celebration of our nations’ independence on Friday July 3rd from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be special music and a time to remember that our country was founded upon Christian principles.  During this important time they want to have their library friends and family come and enjoy the freedom that the Lord has blessed us with. Sign-up early so they have all the ice cream fixings ready for you. Admission is free but donations will be welcomed. Returning to St. Louis for the second year, Men at the Cross, will be at St. Louis University’s Chaifetz Arena on July 17th & 18th. National Lutherans for Life will hold their 2009 conference at the Doubletree Hotel in Westport located at 1973 Craigshire Rd., St. Louis, MO 63146. This conference is not just for Lutherans and will have a varied collection of workshops, lectures, music, exhibits, and fellowship opportunities to equip Christians in how to be gospel-driven champions of life, especially in and through their churches. The conference will be based upon the theme of John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly,” with keynote speaker Bobby Schindler, brother of Terri Schindler Schiavo. The Christian Foundation for Education (CFE) will hold a Garage Sale at New City Fellowship located at 1483 82nd St. in University City from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with international food from many countries at the event. They also plan to have BBQ from StarBQ in Kirkwood. Currently CFE is accepting donations at multiple drop-sites around the city.
