A Vacation You’ll Never Forget:

AiG’s Creation Museum

By Jim Day

With summer time rapidly approaching, and folks looking to stay close to home to save money on vacations, I have a great recommendation!  If you haven’t visited Answers In Genesis’ (AiG) Creation Museum yet, then I highly recommend that you do so.  It will be a fun and educational experience that you and your family will never forget!

The Creation Museum, located just seven miles west of the Cincinnati Airport, (a short, leisurely and scenic six-hour drive from St. Louis) features some incredible exhibits designed by a former Universal Studios exhibit director. This state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life for the entire family.

A fully engaging sensory experience, the Museum offers beautiful murals, realistic scenery, computer-generated visual effects, over 50 exotic animals, life-sized people and dinosaur animatronics, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and a special-effects theater complete with misty sea breezes and rumbling seats.  And this is just a fraction of the exhibits and things to experience at the Museum.

You’ll want to plan at least a day’s visit (two would be better) to even begin to take it all in. The museum’s exhibits will captivate you, entertain you and educate you while revealing biblical truths about creation and God’s plan of salvation.

AiG has designed the Museum in a particular order to emphasize the Bible allowing each guest to explore the Bible and science through what they call “The Seven C’s of Biblical History.” The Seven C’s stand for Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, and Consummation.

Your walk is a one-way, self-guided tour that begins at the Canyon Entrance where you’ll first visit a dinosaur excavation.  From there you’ll travel back 6,000 years to the dawn of creation witnessing the true time line of the universe unfold through the Seven C’s.

The walk through takes an average of 2 to 3 hours.

Adam Giving Names to God’s creatures

You’ll not only get to meet Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden but you’ll get to see Adam as  he gives names to the creatures God created.

The Dinosaur Den

Biblical history is the key to understanding dinosaurs.  Explore many of these amazing creatures along with fossilized dinosaur eggs, a Triceratops skeleton casting and much more!  Note: the dinosaur den is not handicapped accessible and is located on the Lower Level Palm Plaza.

The Petting Zoo—New in 2008

Newly established in 2008, you’ll see a variety of animal kinds as you stroll through the museum’s family friendly petting zoo.  The zoo is designed to give guests a hands-on experience with some of God’s amazing creatures and is located on the museum grounds, across the lake.

The Botanical Gardens

Walk through the museum’s beautifully themed gardens.  Enjoy nearly a mile of paved and accessible trails as you cross over five bridges, viewing a variety of water falls, and more!  There are three picnic pavilions available for those bringing their own lunch which are located on the grounds across the lake.
