In the realm of politics, it’s wise to know
who stands opposed to your fundamental beliefs, philosophies or world view.
For economic and social conservatives and those who hold to a Christian world
view their opposites would be those who ascribe to socialistic, liberal or
culturally ‘progressive’ philosophies and ideals. When trying to select a
candidate to vote for, it becomes imperative to know who or what organization
is supporting or endorsing a candidate. Of course there are other things to
consider – particularly if the candidate has or is presently holding office
– i.e. their voting record, who has or is contributing to their campaign,
what organizations they belong to, etc. The
old adage “Guilt by association” definitely applies when it comes to discerning
where a candidate may be coming from and where they intend to take the rest
of us.
A relatively new organization (founded in 1992
according to their website) called The Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition
(Pro-Vote) touts themselves as “a statewide coalition of some forty labor
unions and community groups to give grassroots organizations the tools to
engage their membership in the public policy process.” Their website (www.MissouriProVote.org)
proudly proclaims “We Fight on for Progressive Issues!” and “We Fight for
Progressive Candidates!”
Pro-Vote member groups (again according to
their website) represent and work on a wide variety of issues, including “quality
public education, health care access, workplace safety, environmental protection,
living wages, civil rights, gun safety, reproductive rights, lesbian/gay/
bisexual/transgendered rights, and pay equity.”
A lot of the issues this ‘group of groups’
say they are fighting for sound good and noble don’t they! They sound good and noble until you find out
exactly what they mean by “quality public
education” – which means throwing more money into a failing system that
isn’t really about education but rather indoctrinating your child with every
socialistic, anti-American, anti-biblical philosophy you can think of and
training them to become mindless worker bees for the coming one world workforce;
“health care access,” – which means
socialized medicine (taxing everyone to death to provide free, government
controlled medical care for everyone – including illegal aliens); “environmental protection” – which means shutting down nuclear power
plants, preventing oil companies from drilling for oil on US soil or off-shore,
or taking your property away from you because some alleged ‘endangered’ plant
or animal happens to reside on your property or you live near a river, stream
or creek; “pay equity” – which means
redistribution of your wealth or controlling the amount of money you make
no matter how hard or how little you work to earn it; “gun safety” - which means gun control and, eventually, the confiscation
of all weapons in the hands of citizens; “reproductive
rights” – which means the right to kill a child from inception up until
the time he or she is born and, eventually, even after they are born; “gay, etc. rights” - which means making
deviant sexual behavior the norm, teaching children to engage in such behavior,
institutionalizing same-sex marriage thus destroying the concept of the traditional
family and last, but not least, making it a punishable crime for anyone who
objects to the gay agenda. If you think this is just a bunch of rhetoric think
again. Do a little investigation on your own and you’ll discover that what
I’ve written above is the truth.
As mentioned earlier, Pro-Vote and their member
groups work to elect progressive candidates. They recruit and train candidates,
help progressive candidates in legislative elections, provide technical assistance
to candidates and coalition partners, identify campaign staff, assist coalition
partners in campaigns to increase effectiveness, mobilize volunteers, and
coordinate campaign resources. Pro-Vote has offices in St. Louis, Kansas City,
Springfield, and Mid Missouri to serve the entire state. They are also a member
of USAction, the nation's largest progressive activist organization with affiliates
in 23 states.
