United for Life Joins
the
Pro-Life Fight in Missouri

I have learned that a new pro-life organization,
Missourians United for Life (MUL), was recently started here in Missouri.
I am honored that the St. Louis MetroVoice is the first to print with
the details 
of
MUL.
Citing roots that stretch back to the early
days of the abortion battles waged by groups like Missouri Citizens for Life,
MUL is a Missouri based organization that plans to survey candidates for elected
office and grade currently elected officials regarding their positions on
life issues.
Missourians United for Life’s fight for life
starts with the very beginnings of life – conception and embryonic life –
and ends only with natural and dignified death.
Abortion, embryonic stem cell research and euthanasia are scourges
in our society that MUL believes our elected officials must limit and eliminate.
“The fight to stop abortion, eliminate destructive
cloning and research, and stop the intentional killing of the elderly or infirm
– in other words to build a pro-life Missouri and America – is the civil rights
fight of this new millennium” said co-founder Ed Martin. “We plan to test
our candidates and elected officials and hold them to the values that we know
defend life.”
A sample of the MUL candidate survey that I
reviewed includes the following questions:

Do you oppose taxpayer funds being used for
abortion services or embryonic stem cell research?

Do you support a ban on human cloning?
-
Do you support banning the sale of women's embryos?
-
Do you support the Missouri Alternatives To
Abortion program, a program that allows tax credits for pregnancy resource
centers and other pro-life groups?
-
Do you believe that Roe v. Wade was inappropriate
judicial activism?
-
Do you support a requirement that women have
access to an ultrasound exam before an abortion?
-
Do you support revoking the non-profit status
of any Missouri non-profit that has admitted it would accept donations to
abort babies of a certain race or sex?
-
Do you believe that the Attorney General of
Missouri should recuse him/herself in cases related to pro-life laws if
he/she has a stated position in favor of abortion?
-
Do you believe that a pro-life health care
professional should be able to invoke his/her rights of conscience to avoid
participating in abortion, sterilization, elective lobotomy, prescription
of RU-486 or Plan B, or other provisions of health care that violates the
conscience?

Are you opposed to all forms of euthanasia
and do you support laws protecting invalids from the withdrawal of nutrition
and hydration by third parties without the prior consent of the patient?
Missourians United for Life is a bi-partisan
organization that focuses on issues not party labels. It is a welcome addition to our fight for life
