Have You
and Your Children Been Evolutionized?
By
David Wright
Evolution can become so ingrained in our thinking
that we don’t even notice it. Our government schools and universities are
entrenched in evolution, from biology to philosophy and even English class.
There is no escaping evolution after we graduate, either. We encounter it
in
the
newspaper, on the radio, on television, and in blockbuster movies. So, how
do you know if you’ve been evolutionized? Here are a few ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions
to find out:
1. Are
tribes in the South American rain forest more primitive forms of humans than we
are?
2. Did
dinosaurs live before humans?
3. Were
the people who lived in caves and used simple tools not very intelligent?
5. Are
the stars older than the Earth?
6. Is
there more than one race?
7. Does
it take millions of years to form fossils, oil, coal, or diamonds?
8. Did
Adam have to learn how to speak, read, and write after he was created?
How Evolutionized Are You?
If you answered “yes” to any of these
questions, you’ve been evolutionized to some degree, and the more times you
responded “yes,” the more evolution has impacted your thinking. Evolutionary
teaching so permeates our culture that it can affect every area of our
thinking, including what we believe about the Bible. This sort of evolutionized thinking has even permeated our
churches.
That is why it is more important than ever
for Christians to be discerning and weigh every thought against the truths
revealed in God’s Word. If you examine each question more closely, you will see
how your answers must be different from evolutionists’ if you start with God’s
Word. It is the duty of Christians to “demolish arguments ... and take captive
every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV).
The Test Answers
Now that you’ve tested whether or not your
thinking has been influenced by evolutionary teachings, let’s look at the true
answers. You’ll also find a few additional questions as well. First, you’ll get
the evolutionary answer and then an answer in accordance with Scripture.
1. Are
tribes in the South American rain forests more primitive humans than we are?
Evolution teaches that some people groups
are less advanced (i.e. less evolved) than others because they live in
“primitive” conditions. As a result, some of these people groups are labeled
“primitive” because of their lifestyle or how they look.
The
Bible teaches that all humans are descended from Noah and his sons and that
after God confused their language at the Tower of Babel, they spread out all
over the Earth. Many people groups that came to North and South America carried
with them a vast knowledge of mathematics and architecture, and this is
evidenced by the ancient Aztecs and Mayans. Many have admitted that the
ancients who lived in the Americas were technologically advanced. However, because of sin, much of that
knowledge has been lost. For more information, read the article The Mystery of Ancient Man on the
Answers In Genesis (AiG) website www.AnswersInGenesis.org.
2. Did
dinosaurs live before humans?
Evolution teaches that dinosaurs and humans
never lived together and that the dinosaurs died out about 65 million years
ago.
The Bible
shows conclusively that man and dinosaurs lived together before and after
the Flood. Since dinosaurs were land animals, that means they were created
on Day 6 (i.e. “beasts of the Earth”; Genesis
1:24-25). Also, we see remarkable descriptions of an Apatosaurus and a fire-breathing
dragon in Job 40:15-24 and Job 41, respectively. See the following
articles for more information on this topic: Dragons: Animals ... Not Apparitions and Were Dinosaurs on Noah’s Ark? (Also, see our Get Answers section on
Dinosaurs on the
website
as well.)
3.
Were the people who lived in caves and used simple tools not very intelligent?
Evolution teaches us that because certain
people lived in caves and/or used tools made of stone that they were primitive
and not as intelligent as we are.
The Bible
gives us insight into who these people probably were. They were some of the
people groups that left Babel. Because the most convenient place to live
short-term while moving and establishing a civilization is caves, many remains
of these early settlers are found in caves. Go to the AiG website
(www.answersingenesis.org) to read the following article for more information: The Amazing Cave People of Malta.
4.
Did Noah lack special tools or equipment to build the Ark?
Evolution teaches that Noah was probably a
mythical person, and if he was real, his role in the ancient world has been
greatly exaggerated. Many teach there was never a global flood and that Noah
never built an Ark. Because it is assumed that Noah and the people of his time
were more “primitive,” it is also assumed that Noah didn’t have any sort of
advanced tools or other machinery that could help him build the Ark.
The
Bible teaches that Noah was 600 years old when he entered the Ark. He
probably started building the Ark when he was around 500 years old. Not only
did God give him directions on how to build the Ark, but Noah had also lived
for 500 years and already had a tremendous wealth of knowledge. Scripture
indeed tells us that men already knew how to make all sorts of tools (Genesis 4:22 ). See the article Cranes and Lifting Machines for more
information on the AiG website.
5.
Are the stars older than the Earth?
Evolution teaches that the Big Bang is true.
It is also assumes that stars evolved before the Earth did. Many believe that
because most of the stars are millions and billions of light-years away that
they have to be millions and billions of years old since we can see them.
The Bible
teaches that the Earth was created before the stars. The Earth was created
on Day 1 (Genesis 1:1-2) and the
stars were
created
on the Day 4 (Genesis 1:14-19 ).
See the article How Can We See Distant
Stars in a Young Universe? on www.AnswersInGenesis.org for more information.
6.
Is there more than one race?
Evolution has taught in the past that there
was more than one race of humans, some being less evolved than others. Though
many today would admit there is only one race of humans, based on genetic
evidence, some still believe that other people groups are less evolved than
others.
The Bible
teaches there is only one race: humans (Acts
17:26). But because of sin and the Tower of Babel we speak many different
languages and have many different false religions today. Because of these
differences many distinct people groups have come about. See the following
resources for more information: Genetics
and the Human Family and One Race.
7.
Does it take millions of years to form fossils, oil, coal, or diamonds?
Evolution teaches that it takes thousands or
even millions of years to form fossils, coal, and oil. And that it takes
billions of years to form diamonds. If this were true, then radiometric testing
of diamonds and coal should show no traceable evidence of Carbon-14.
The Bible
teaches us that the Earth is only about 6,000 years old. And the recent R.A.T.E.
(Radioisotopes and the Age of The Earth) Project results show that both coal
and diamonds have been found to contain traces of Carbon-14, showing that these
had to have formed thousands of years ago—and not millions or billions. It has
also been observed that fossils can form in as little as a few weeks. Read the
following articles for more information on the AiG website: RATE Research Reveals Remarkable Results
and Petrified Flour.
8.
Did Adam have to learn to speak, read, and write after he was created?
Evolution teaches that humans, even just
thousands of years ago, were less advanced than us, and so, they were not
nearly as intelligent. It is also believed that language was still being
developed and that writing had not been invented yet. Therefore, Adam must have
been ignorant when he was first created.
The
Bible teaches us that Adam had to have a knowledge base. God created him
perfect so that he was able to speak and understand language, especially
knowing what death was without experiencing it in some way. He also had to name
all of the animals, and it is possible he was able to write as well. In
addition, he had to be able to look at the stars to tell what time of the year
it was. See the following AiG article on AiG’s website for more information: What Was Adam Like?
9.
Is it true that dinosaur and human fossils have never been found in rock layers
that are within 200–500 years of each other?
Evolution tells us that the many rock layers
we see were slowly and individually formed over millions of years, and since we
don’t find dinosaur and human fossils in the same rock layers, that that is
proof they lived millions of years apart.
The Bible
teaches us that there was a great Flood that killed all the animals and people
on Earth. And so, the majority of dinosaur fossils we find were created during
the Flood. Many of the human fossils we find are probably from the Ice Age that
lasted several hundred years after the Flood. So, we do indeed find human and
dinosaur fossils within a couple hundred years of each other. Here are some
helpful articles which can be found on the AiG website: Where Are All the Human Fossils? and If Humans and Dinosaurs Lived Together, Why Don’t We Find Human Fossils
With Dinosaur Fossils?
10.
Natural Selection and molecules-to-man evolution are pretty much the same
thing?
Evolution teaches that natural selection is
the main driving force behind molecules-to-man evolution. And because we see
natural selection happening today, that proves that molecules-to-man evolution happened
in the past.
The Bible
teaches that animals were created “according to their kinds.” This means that
dogs will always be dogs and cats will always be cats. Recent scientific
research has shown that animals, like dogs and wolves, all came from an original
“kind.” Natural selection only “chooses” from preexisting genetic information.
And so, in total, there is a net loss of genetic information. There has never
been an observed increase in new genetic information that produces an entirely
new structure that was not previously present. See the following Get Answers
section on the AiG website for more information: Created Kinds (Baraminology) and Natural Selection.
Now you can see why when we believe in God’s
Word, we must answer “no” to all of these questions.
