God Can Use More Abortion Clinics
By Jim Day
Buildings, like people, can be redeemed by God to be used for His purposes.
In the fall of 2005, Southwest Missouri’s only abortion clinic closed its
doors. Not as a consequence of slow business (averaging
over
1,000 abortions per year for 28 years) but as a result of legislative changes.
The
owners of the building that housed the clinic, Doin and Dianne Loftis, decided
to donate the building to the Pregnancy Care Center (PCC). The building sat
empty for nearly a year, until Cindy Boston, Director of the PCC, was
approached by Missouri Baptist Children’s Home Children and Family Ministries (MBCH
CFM) about leasing the space.
MBCH
CFM is an affiliate of Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. They have been helping
hurting children in Missouri since 1886. Their work in Southwest Missouri had
outgrown the office space they leased from the Greene County Baptist
Association and they were looking for a new place to house the regional office
where they provide foster care and adoption services for children in the
Ozarks.
The
building has been remodeled and MBCH CFM moved to their new location in
November. PCC Director Cindy Boston says, “We are honored with the partnership
of MBCH Children and Family Ministries as they reside in the Cherry Street
facility. What was once a place of pain
and sorrow, a former abortion clinic, is now a place of hope and healing for
children and families. What a miracle!”
Let’s
all pray that God turns every abortion clinic in the nation into a place of
hope and healing for children and families.
