Trivia Night-Silent Auction

for FCCHS Set for January 19, 2008

By Robert Arb

Are you looking for something fun to do in January?  How about attending Faith Community Christian High School’s (FCCHS) Trivia Night and Silent Auction on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 6 p.m.  We guarantee that you will have a great time and it is a wonderful way to support FCCHS in their inaugural year.

Okay, let’s talk trivia.  How can I make my team competitive?  The trick is to have different aged persons on your team and team members that know a lot about certain subjects.  As a team, you can also discuss a question among yourselves and make the best educated (or random) guess.

Even if you’re not a trivia aficionado, the evening will be entertaining and rewarding.  First of all there is food.  Christians must eat to have fellowship – I know that’s in the Bible somewhere.  Your $10 admission includes soft drinks and popcorn.  For a very reasonable fee, you can purchase pizza, scrumptious desserts or a drink from our Cappuccino/Fruit smoothie Bar. Or you can bring your own food and snacks.  No alcohol, cigarettes or chewing tobacco (we have no spittoons) please.

Okay, what if I stink at trivia and I’m on a three-day fast.  Well, you might want to attend for the fruit smoothies and the silent auction.  We will have many items to bid on, which will increase your chance of getting a great deal.  And what a wonderful way to advertise your business to the Christian community by donating products, services, gift certificates, sports tickets, vacation weekends, etc.   All those who donate items will have their business names and phone numbers listed in our program booklet which everyone will take home with them. Please contact Cindy Arb at (314) 412-0800 if you would like to be an auction donor.

For those of you who do not know much about our school, Faith Community Christian High School is a non-denominational Christian school for grades 9 through 12 which is located at the intersection of Hwy. 141 and Centurion in Fenton, Missouri, only half a mile south of I-44.  Our school leases space from Calvary Fellowship Church, (1811 Smizer Station Road, Fenton, MO) which has modern classrooms and a beautiful gym.

The school’s objective is to graduate young men and woman who are well-equipped to excel in their chosen occupations while teaching them a Biblical worldview.  Our sports program encourages students to strive for excellence while developing teamwork and Christian fellowship. Our boy’s soccer team had a great season compiling 21 wins against only 5 losses.  The soccer team also won the Division II championship for the state Christian school playoffs in Joplin, Missouri.  We are also proud of our girls cheerleading team which won first place in the cheerleading camp competition in August 2007.  The school also has a basketball team, baseball team and two bowling teams.

Since we are trying to provide affordable Christian education (tuition is $5,000 per year), we must rely on donations and fundraising.  Fundraising can be a chore or it can be fun.  The Trivia Night and Silent Auction is a fun way to raise money for a great cause.  Please call Faith Community Christian High School at (636) 225-2217 to reserve a spot for your trivia team.  If you can’t assemble a team but want to come, please give us a call and we will put you on a team.

One last thing – we believe FCCHS is going to continue to grow.  Eventually we will outgrow our space at Calvary Fellowship and will need our own facility.  Let us know if you or someone you know is an extremely generous person who wants to contribute land or money to our building fund.  Sometimes Christians don’t have, because they don’t let anyone know the need.  Well, we are putting the need out there and expectantly believing the Lord will meet it.  The school’s name does begin with “Faith” you know.

We hope to see you on January 19th and adopt you into our Faith Community Christian High School family.   For more information about the school, please go to our website at www.faithcommunitychs.org.
