Fighting the Culture War with the 10 Commandments

By Jim Day

When news commentators report on the daily evils occurring in American society, a lot of people ask themselves, "Why is this happening?" A better question would be, "Why are we so surprised?"

Fired up by recent events and inspired by her personal Bible study, one woman has set out to help equip her neighbors for spiritual battle and restore godly morality to American culture. Her weapon of choice: The Word of God in the form of trans-cling decals that can literally be displayed all over town.
Roma Murray was inspired to start a ministry as a direct result of the never ending legal attacks on the Ten Commandments, one of many symbolic testaments to America's godly heritage.
Groups like the ACLU, People for the American Way, and others have filed lawsuits to remove public displays of the Ten Commandments, claiming they are an unconstitutional endorsement of religion. The false claims of these groups have been defeated repeatedly, but that has not stopped them from launching new attacks. "The very thing that could help restore our culture has come under attack: God's Word, the Ten Commandments," Roma said. “And I intend to fight back.”

Roma came up with a simple idea to get the Ten Commandments out where people could see them all year long. She designed 12 trans-cling decals, having one Commandment for each month and two additional special verses for November and December, which can be displayed just about anywhere from car bumpers to office windows without leaving a sticky residue when removed.
”I kept asking myself, 'What can one person do?'" Roma said. Encouraged by Isaiah 55:11 where it says God's Word does not return void, she was confident. "These decals were my answer."

Chapel of the Lake in Lake St. Louis, Missouri, kicked off Roma’s campaign in October of 2006. Other churches, organizations and individuals have since joined Roma in promoting her decals, but she knows there are many others across the nation which could help get the Ten Commandments out to the public and prays they will also join her in her efforts. Taking time off from her professional career of design and real estate, Roma now focuses solely on promoting God's "Ten" around the country.
