Education or Indoctrination? Issue

By Jim Day

Are today’s public school students being educated or are they being indoctrinated? When it comes to the creation/evolution debate, can teachers present both sides of the controversy or can they even question evolution? Answers Magazine will delve into this most important topic in their July-September 2007 issue.

Inside, you’ll find a 22-page report entitled Education or Indoctrination? which answers some of the big questions related to educating the next generation. Here is a sneak preview of what you’ll see in this important issue.

Author and well-known creation speaker, Mike Riddle (a popular creation scientist who created a stir in the media when he spoke at a public school in Potosi, Missouri last year) gives a behind the scenes look at what today’s children are being taught in public schools. From the blatant evolutionary content to the open acceptance of abortion, today’s textbooks present children with a godless worldview that runs counter to what they learn in church and at home.

In an article entitled Biology 101: Dissecting Today’s Textbooks, former biology teacher Roger Patterson exposes the evolutionary concepts that are still presented as fact in biology textbooks.

When discussing creation and evolution in the classroom, Dr. Charles Jackson will cover what teachers are allowed by law to teach when covering this highly-charged subject. Dr. David Gibbs Jr. and Dr. David Gibbs III from the Christian Law Association set things straight on what rights Christian students have in America’s public schools.

Next, author Sheila Richardson moves beyond the public school classroom to Sunday school and youth groups. Addressing the important question of why today’s young people are leaving the Church, Sheila offers hope for church leaders and teachers on how to prevent youth from walking away from the Truth.

In another article entitled Parents—Don’t Leave Teaching to the Church, Stacia McKeever offers parents practical solutions on building a biblical worldview in their children on a daily basis.

In addition to the regular features on science and culture, including an in-depth look at the definition of science by Ken Ham and Dr. Terry Mortenson, the issue will include a pull-out children’s section on giant turtles and other living fossils, plus a detachable wall poster about the Scopes Trial of 1925. A related article, Monkeying with the Media, discusses the impact this trial made on the media then and continues to make today.

If you’re a parent or grandparent with children or grandchildren in the public education system, a public or Christian school teacher, homeschooling mom or dad, a Sunday school teacher, pastor, youth leader, student or someone who cares about children and TRUTH, then this issue of Answers is a MUST HAVE ISSUE!
