PRC Walk4Life May 12, 2007

It’s that time of year again. Spring in St. Louis signals the beginning of the 2007 Walk4Life Campaign benefiting the Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater St. Louis (PRC).

The Walk, scheduled for May 12 at the Tremayne Shelter in Creve Coeur Park, is the annual fundraiser for PRC. Through sponsorships and donations, Walk participants raise funds necessary to operate the four area centers, maternity home, 24/7 help line and Best Choice sexual integrity program.

The PRC exists to empower women, teens and young adults to experience the fullness of life and make the best choices concerning their health, sexual lifestyle and pregnancy. During 2006, PRC provided pregnancy tests, options counseling, first trimester ultrasounds, medical referrals, parenting and resources classes free of charge to over 4,000 women throughout the metropolitan area. At the same time, the message of sexual integrity was proclaimed to more than 5,000 students in 25 public and private middle and high schools.

PRC has taken great strides in the St. Louis community to change the conversation about sex and society’s perception of sexuality. Furthermore, the PRC staff and volunteers daily encourage women to make life-affirming decisions concerning pregnancy. As a part of the ongoing Vision 2010 Capacity Building Campaign, the PRC plans to expand medical services and program reach into the areas of STD testing and treatment, prenatal and well women care. These expansions are impossible without the continued prayer and financial support of the community.

Please join PRC for the two mile Walk on May 12 at Creve Coeur Park. In addition to walking, individuals and families can enjoy food, music and children’s activities. Registration and check-in begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Walk kickoff at 9 a.m. All activities continue through 12 noon.

Prior to the event, participants gather sponsors and pledges to be presented the morning of May 12. For the first time, online registration is available at www.prcmo.net. By visiting the website, walkers may have sponsors fulfill their pledges online.
