Cloning is Cloning and Cloning Doesn’t Cure

Missouri Republican Assembly Press Release

The Missouri Republican Assemblies have unanimously endorses a “NO” vote on the cloning ballot imitative which will appear on this November’s ballot calling it “an initiative of deceit and deception intent upon misleading Missourians into voting in favor of a practice they abhor.” The no vote was taken recalling the words of Thomas Jefferson, “To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

Chris Brown 1st vice president (St. Louis) and Dr. Scott Magill,  2nd vice president (Springfield), concurred that “This ‘NO’ vote is a call to arms for all Republicans as well as the Missouri Republican Party to recognize and disseminate the truth that this ballot initiative is not only morally reprehensible, but also intellectually dishonest and corrupt, and that any individual or organization that supports such an initiative is, by association, guilty of being unscrupulous and dishonorable.”

The Missouri Republican Assemblies recognizes the following unethical issues with the initiative:

    1. It redefines human cloning as embryo transfer in order to allow cloning, but only partially bans embryo transfer. (Silence allows ectogenisis)

    2.  It allows in vitro fertilization for the development of embryonic stem cells for research while appearing to prevent it. (Silence on chimeras would allow ESC for such research)

    3. It redefines medical terms and legally codifies them as a constitutional amendment. (Codifies a developing science as a constitutional amendment)

    4. It allows the use of tax monies for embryonic stem cell research.

    5. It makes it illegal for elected representatives to interfere with taxes going to embryonic stem cell research. Hence the Missouri citizen has no voice in the issue...and so goes our republic.

    6. Missouri, by statute, is a pro-life state (Missouri Revised Statutes Chapter 1Laws in Force and Construction of Statutes,” Section 1.205 August 28, 2005). This initiative would abolish that statute and throw open the whole issue of life and the sanctity of life.

    7. It allows for the commercial exploitation of women through the purchase of eggs by defining away the prohibition.
