It’s About Cash – Not Cures!

By now everyone knows, or at least they should know, that on January 19th Cole County Judge Byron Kinder handed the Missouri Coalition for ‘Lifesaving’ Cures their first victory toward constitutionally legalizing the cloning of human beings in Missouri and having taxpayers foot the bill for it.

After several hours of testimony as to whether or not the Clone and Kill ballot title/language was written accurately and truthfully (WHICH IT IS NOT), Kinder made the following statement (which is straight from the court transcript), “Let me tell you something. I have read this ballot initiative over and over and over again since you-all first brought it to my attention. And I have read the ballot title....I’ve already ruminated over it and I think counsel have given me a lot to hear today.... But you know what? The ballot title is sufficient and it’s fair and the language is neutral.” (Emphasis mine.)

Those are very interesting comments in light of the fact that the petition challenging the ballot language had been given to the court approximately a month prior to the hearing. I have no doubt that Kinder had in indeed, as he stated, read the ballot title “over and over again” and had “already ruminated over it.” So, what’s the big deal? I’ll tell you what the big deal is. The deal is Judge Kinder had already made up his mind that the ballot language was going to stay as it was written long before he ever heard a word from the attorneys and witnesses who gave testimony against the ballot language on January 19th – that’s the big deal!

Bottom line, those who tried to get an honestly worded petition for people to either sign or not sign didn’t stand a chance of getting a fair hearing.

Due to the fact that the scientific evidence presented during the hearing didn’t in any way support Kinder’s opinion, attorneys representing the Missouri Baptist Convention, Alliance Defense Fund, Bioethics Defense Fund and the Missouri Catholic Conference have appealed Kinder’s decision to the Missouri Court of Appeals - Western District in Kansas City where oral arguments will more than likely be heard in late February. In the mean time, petitioners are busy collecting signatures to put the human cloning amendment on the November General Election ballot.

Assuming the medical research companies, grant hungry universities, scientists, and politicians who are pushing this constitutional amendment get their necessary signatures, it’s going to be up to everyone who knows the truth about this amendment to start educating their friends, neighbors, co-workers – everyone they come in contact with – if we are to have any chance of defeating it.

Unfortunately, a large number of Christians have bought into the lies being perpetrated by the Coalition for ‘Lifesaving’ Cures and support this initiative due to their lack of knowledge regarding stem cell research. This is where pastors and lay people within the Church are going to have to really become involved and get educated! Pastors and their congregations need to understand that this petition is going to legalize human cloning in Missouri. And, if we don’t defeat these people at the polls, not only are they going to be slaughtering countless innocent human beings, they’re going to drain the taxpayers of Missouri of more tax dollars than you can imagine to fund their diabolical schemes. Tax dollars, I might add, that could be better spent really helping those in need instead of giving people false hope and lining the pockets of mad scientists, lying politicians, greedy colleges and big business.

As I write this commentary, a coalition of religious leaders is being formed to stand against this evil amendment. Don’t believe the lies Danforth and his fellow conspirators are telling you. THIS INITIATIVE IS NOT ABOUT CURES – IT’S ABOUT CASH! This amendment will legalize the utilization of embryonic stem cells for research which will result in the murder of human embryos. This is NOT a pro-life amendment which those who are collecting signatures are telling people.

If you claim the name of Christ DO NOT SIGN THE AMENDMENT PETITION and if this amendment shows up on the ballot this coming November VOTE AGAINST IT and tell everyone you know to do the same!
