Eagle Council XXXIV to Address

Important Issues September 23-25

By Rebekah Baxter

Friday, September 23, at 2 p.m. to Sunday, September 25 at 2 p.m., Eagle Forum will hold their 34th annual Eagle Council at the Sheraton Clayton Plaza Hotel.  Friday afternoon will focus on what the feminists are up to, specifically in the military, on the university campus, in men’s sports, and in marriage.  Friday’s dinner address is titled How Intellectual Hucksters Hijaked American Culture by Jack Cashill, author of Hoodwinked.

Saturday morning’s session will focus on educational issues such as phonics, the National Education Association convention, bad books, mental health screening, globalism, and evolution.  The luncheon address, Stand Up for Life, will be given by Representative Trent Franks of Arizona, a strong supporter of family values. Saturday afternoon’s session will discuss what Eagle Forum is looking for in a Presidential candidate for 2008, specifically someone who will stand up for American sovereignty, military defense, border security, private property, and for strict constructionist judges.  The dinner address will continue this theme with Stand up for Traditional Morality with Phil Burress, who spearheaded the marriage amendment in Ohio.

Sunday morning’s session will feature people who have ‘done the impossible’, including Michelle Turner, who defeated sex education in her local school and Missouri State Senator John Loudon, who preserved the casino loss limit. Eagle Council will end with a bang, as Phyllis Schlafly herself will talk about Rebuilding the Conservative Movement.
