Walk4Life Biggest Ever But
Monthly Donors Still Needed

The 2004 PRC Walk4Life was bigger than any previous Walk4Life. Over 250 pledged walkers came to Creve Coeur Park to walk a two-mile course, listen to live music, and enjoy food and fellowship. Over $50,000 was raised to support PRC. The goal for 2004 was to transform the Walk4Life from a small and quiet event to one that was fun and exciting, and I believe that the goal was met.

Four months ago, when PRC’s new President and CEO, Mark Dungan, challenged PRC staff and Board to set a 2005 goal of 1,000 walkers representing 120 churches and $250,000, we were initially full of disbelief. Just doubling the number of walkers from a year ago would have been a major challenge, but that wasn’t enough for Mark. While it might have been possible to double the size and impact of the event in one year through our own human effort, we knew it would take divine participation, if not down right intervention, to meet Mark’s challenge.

We petitioned the Lord for perfect weather and for an outpouring of participation from area churches. God answered by showing Himself mighty and awesome! May 7, 2005 was a glorious day of sunshine, blue skies and mild temperatures. Six hundred of the more than 1,100 walkers were pledged walkers representing over 130 churches in the Walk.

More than 70 volunteers helped make the Walk a great success, registering walkers, preparing and serving food, directing traffic and keeping everyone safe. Others donated their time to minister to children by doing face painting, balloon animals and stilt walking. Thank you volunteers! And for the first time, the event drew the attention of a TV news crew and a reporter from the local newspaper!

With contributions still flowing in, the Walk is expected to generate close to $100,000 which will help PRC continue providing free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, sexual abstinence education, pregnancy loss support, life affirming counseling and mentoring for women and men throughout the metro area. The Lord chose not to provide the level of financial support through the Walk that we asked for. He did however, prompt over 900 individuals to get involved for the first time in supporting PRC either by walking or supporting a walker. We hope and pray that many of these individuals will partner with PRC by becoming regular supporters and volunteers and through being agents for life within their churches.

To each and every person who participated in making the 2005 Walk4Life—please accept our heartfelt thank you for such an incredible event that honored life and the Author of Life. We praise the Lord for His faithful and mighty answer to our prayers, and we thank each of you who allowed the Lord to work through you!

PRC receives no government funding or foundation grants. It takes approximately $100,000 a month to maintain current service levels.
