Four Words You Never Want to Hear
By Dr. David J. Vaughan
|
There are certain words that we seldom hear in our modern
sensitive churches – words which are in fact quite common in the
Bible. What, with all
the
love and goodwill being expressed by Christians toward the lost
(Oops, the ‘pre-Christian’), you would think that at least we
would be honest enough to tell them about what’s really in the
Bible. But technique has triumphed over Truth,
and the wisdom of men over the folly of God. And although the
Scripture itself says that preaching is foolishness, it doesn’t
mean that we shouldn’t preach the Gospel. What Paul was trying
to tell us is that to the unbeliever the Gospel is foolishness,
but it seems that now even many ‘Christians’ think so.

When Jesus Was Abandoned
By Leon Odem
|
“Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was
darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus
cried, ‘Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani!’ That
is to say, ‘My God, My God, why have You
forsaken me?’”
This text is taken
from Matthew 27:45-46, and describes the darkest
hour in the life of our Savior. An hour
when He had to be left alone with His load of anguish.
A time when no earthly man could come
to His aid either to deliver Him or comfort Him.
A time when even heaven itself must turn
a deaf ear to His cry, and caused the Christ Himself to
cry aloud in acknowledgment that even His Father had abandoned
Him.

Take a Step Now for the May 7th PRC Walk4Life
By Keith Thorn
Every
year as Spring approaches, I begin to look forward to the Walk4Life
sponsored by the Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater St. Louis
(PRC).
There is a certain
ritual of Spring that has become as predictable
as the budding of leaves.
Every year, I ask my wife when the Walk will take place.
And every year, she patiently reminds me that the Walk
is ALWAYS the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend! Well, this year
I am going to surprise her. I have already marked Saturday, May 7th on my
2005 calendar as the date for the Walk4Life.
I won’t miss this
one, because it promises to be even bigger and better than last
year’s Walk, which was itself a huge success.
Last year, 250 walkers obtained sponsors willing to contribute
to PRC. The live music expanded to last the entire morning
and grilled hot dogs, chips and soda helped contribute to the
festive atmosphere. Walk4Life
2004 raised $66,000 for PRC’s many ministry
outreaches.
