Register Now for the Annual
Alliance for Life Conference

By John McCastle

Mark your calendars now for the Annual Alliance for Life – Missouri (AFLMO) State Conference, which will be held March 31st, April 1st and 2nd at the Windermere Conference Center in the Lake of the Ozarks.

Designed for pregnancy centers, adoption agencies, maternity homes and other pro-life organizations, this year’s conference will include training on reporting requirements in Missouri, presenting adoption as a viable option, training for members of boards of directors, a discussion of legislative issues and updates, a presentation by Tom McKnight of Liberty for Life entitled Making Abortion Unthinkable, a presentation by Dan Busby from the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability regarding accounting and accountability issues, as well as special praise and worship music, great meals, fellowship, and a wonderful opportunity to renew and develop relationships with fellow laborers in the battle for life.

To register or obtain additional information about the conference contact AFLMO President John McCastle at (417) 598-1040 or visit the AFLMO web site at www.aflmo.net.   The cost to attend includes two nights lodging, five meals and conference registration for only $150 per person. Keep in mind that staff, volunteers and board members are all invited. (AFLMO affiliates receive a $10 per person discount so if your organization is not yet an AFLMO affiliate, now is a great time to join for only $80 a year.)

The conference is not restricted to just pro-life organizations in Missouri so if you know of other pro-life ministries in surrounding states, please let them know they are invited, too. Just contact me with their contact information so we can get them registered.

In other AFLMO news, AFLMO will be offering ultra sound training for nurses again this year.  Tentative dates are June 6th through the 9th; September 12th through the15th; and November 7th through the 10th.  These training sessions will be hosted in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas for ease of access. If you have any comments or suggestions regarding ultra sound training, please contact me as your input will help us in providing the services you need. For more information regarding ultra sound training contact me or visit our web site.

In still other news, through a generous grant to AFLMO we have been able to offer a $15,000 matching challenge grant to a new center starting in the Farmington, MO area.  The goal of the grant is to fire up the community to raise the matching funds, which would allow the new center to open sooner.  If this goes as planned, we may be able to offer this start up grant again. In addition there are matching grant dollars for training needs for AFLMO affiliates with budgets under $100,000 in the areas of fundraising, board training and long range planning.

As an end note, we have much to be thankful for in Missouri as we see the beginning of this year’s legislative agenda.  Several pro-life bills have been filed and I’m sure there will be several more in the near future.  Pro-life bills are common, but this year there’s a majority of pro-life people in the House, Senate and Governor’s office. We need to hold them up in prayer and continue to petition God’s favor for all of His creation, both born and unborn.
