Walk4Life in Creve Coeur
Park May 8th Draws Near

    “Oh Lord, I know that pro life values are important to You, and I know that I should be more involved in this important issue.  But what can I do?   You know that I don’t have time to volunteer regularly and that I don’t have a lot of money that I can contribute…. Oh Lord, what would you have me do?”

     If this is your prayer, then I have great news for you!  You can become an important part of the Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater St. Louis (PRC) without making a long term commitment of time, and without making a large investment of

money.  The upcoming PRC Walk4Life utilizes hundreds of volunteers like you, who each solicit sponsors for a two-mile walk to be held on Saturday, May 8th.  Sponsors commit to donations to the PRC that could be as small as five or ten dollars, or as large as the Lord leads.  The Walk4Life has two very important functions -- first, as a fund raiser and second, as a means of spreading the word about PRC.  This year PRC leadership is praying that it will be able to raise at least $100,000 which would double the amount raised last year.  They are also praying that as walkers ask their neighbors, friends, co-workers and relatives for pledges, more and more people will become aware of the importance of the ministry work being done by the PRC.  God may very well use these contacts to raise up new regular donors and volunteers.

    Please act now!  Take the sponsor form that is enclosed in this issue of the MetroVoice and begin seeking sponsors.  After you have reached at least $150 in total commitments, you will receive a free T-shirt promoting the Walk4Life.  You can then wear that shirt as you continue to seek additional sponsors. 

    As you talk to people about sponsoring you in the Walk4Life, be sensitive to the opportunities that God may bring your way.  God may be waiting to use you to touch someone’s heart about the pro-life message, the ministry of the PRC, or about the healing forgiveness that is available in the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Be sure to pray for God’s leading as you speak to each person about sponsoring you.  We are commanded to be salt and light in the world, and the Walk4Life is a great opportunity to be obedient to this command.

    While many people are aware that the PRC is a pro-life organization, you may encounter questions about the specific types of services provided by the PRC.  PRC provides free pregnancy testing, counseling and ultrasounds for those affected by unplanned pregnancies.  They also have programs for educating teens which promote pre-marital abstinence as the best choice; a post abortion Bible study that teaches God’s love and forgiveness, and thereby promotes true healing from the brutality of elective abortion and a program for men, promoting godly responsibility and leadership.  Each of these programs seeks to teach the truth of the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, recognizing that a personal relationship with God is the only long-term solution to the problems facing those who seek help at the PRC.  These programs are having an incredible impact in the greater St. Louis Metropolitan area as women are choosing life, and men and women are accepting the gift of eternal life.

    As you might expect, running programs such as these takes money, and it takes the dedication and commitment of a competent staff and many well trained and effective volunteers.  Many are called to be substantial donors to the PRC, while many others are called to become part of the PRC staff or to become regular volunteers.  Praise God for each of those who are so called.  However, there are many others who want to help with the work of the PRC, but who are unable to make large financial contributions or to become regular volunteers.  Events such as the May 8th Walk4Life provide an opportunity for everyone to be a part of the ministry of the PRC, and these efforts are no less important, and no less appreciated.  The efforts of every one of us are critical to the continuance of this ministry.
