By Jim Day
Dust off your baseball glove and get ready to enjoy some spirit filled Christian entertainment, listen to some major league testimonies and be blessed by the sight of a lot of happy children! Christian Family Day at Busch Stadium (CFD) is rapidly approaching and now is the time to get your tickets to attend and support this event.
On Saturday, July 3, the Red Birds will face off against the Seattle Mariners in a 3:05 p.m. game in the 14th Annual

Christian Family
Day at the ballpark event. Immediately
following the game, Joe White Director of Kamp Kanakuk and the St. Louis
based contemporary Christian entertainment group, New
Creation, will take to the field to lead in praise and worship.
Cardinal and Mariner baseball players will also share their faith. McGraw
Milhaven, KMOX radio talk show host, will serve as this year’s Honorary
Chairman with KPLR television sportscaster, Bob Carpenter, serving as
the Master of Ceremonies. For those unfamiliar with Christian Family Day, CFD is a great evangelistic event that opens the door for thousands to experience Jesus and invite Him into their lives in a non-threatening manner. It also affords thousands of under-privileged children the opportunity to attend and experience the awesome power of God through praise, worship and the testimonies of sports figures and Christian entertainers. Just a few of the many sports figures and men of faith who have given their testimonies in the past have included Mike Sweeney, Kurt Warner, Dawson McAllister, Dave Dravecky, Gary Gaetti, Tim Burke, Tommy Herr, Darrell Porter, Mike Singletary, and Lou Brock. Entertainers who have participated have included such well-known artists as Russ Lee, |

Al Denson, Todd Proctor, Chris Tomlin, Randy Mayfield, Joel Engle, Robert Burkhart, Phillips, Craig & Dean, Salvador & Cal Eldred.
The real blessing of CFD however centers on the children. Thanks to those who purchase tickets, make outright tax-deductible contributions and corporate sponsors, some 3,700 of our areas neediest children will hopefully get to attend the game and hear the Gospel this year. Festivities for the kids this year will begin around 12:30 p.m. in Kauffman Park located a block north of city hall between Chestnut and Pine Streets and 13th and Tucker where they will receive a Chick-Fil-A meal, beverage, ticket to the game and a whole lot of love and Christian entertainment.
Of
course, Christian Family Day would be nothing more than a dream without the
tireless work of hundreds of volunteers, the CFD Committee and support of its
sponsors. This year’s corporate sponsors
include McArthur’s Bakery, Mid Rivers Mortgage, Mike Duffy’s Pub & Grill,
Frailey’s Restaurants, Christian Financial Services, Metro-Vision Ministries, Cass Bank
Corporation, ProPrint, Dierbergs Family Markets, Chick-Fil-A Restaurants,
Hamilton Jewelers, Gamers For Good, Curves at 141 & Big Bend, Dent Devil, Cordell
and Cordell, P.C., Attorney at Law Bob R.Young, Neustaedter’s Fine Jewelry,
Eberhardt Music, Frito Lay, Christian
radio station Joy FM 97.7, ADMO, Christian
radio station KSIV AM 1320 and FM 91.5, and the St. Louis MetroVoice
Newspaper.
Some
12,000 tickets have been set aside by the Cardinal organization for this year’s
CFD and may be purchased by calling Paul Freiert (a member of the Christian
Family Day Committee) at (636) 227-9788 or through CFD’s web site
(www.christianfamilyday.com). Tickets (Terrace Reserved) are $19 each and group
discounts are also available at $18 per ticket for groups of 25 or more if
purchased before June 7th. Checks for
ticket purchases and tax-deductible contributions should be sent to: CFD, Box
576, Chesterfield, MO 63006. For convenience, CFD also accepts Discover,
MasterCard and Visa credit cards for ticket purchases and donations.
In order to make CFD a day to remember for the children, the CFD committee must raise some $60,000 to provide the kids with the meal, beverage and ticket to the game. A $15 contribution sends one child to the game for a memorable day at the ball park.
Keep in mind, whether it’s purchasing a ticket, making a donation or signing up to be a sponsor for next year’s game, you’ll be making a difference in someone’s life. Thousands of children (and adults) have come to know Christ through this event. Our responsibility is to reach out with the Gospel in love, and this is a great way to do it.
