PRC’s Walk4Life Set for May 8th in Creve Coeur Park

Sponsor Sign-up Forms Inside this Issue of the MetroVoice

If you believe in God, and submit to His authority, then you should recognize that our value as human beings comes not from our abilities, gifts and talents, not from our size or location, and not from our physical appearance.  Rather, our value comes from the fact that we are created in the very image of God.  Each individual reflects in some small way the very nature of God.  The tiny unborn child, the elderly person nearing death, the physically or mentally challenged person, the attractive movie star and the most skilled athlete - each is a partial reflection of God. What an awesome thing to bear in mind as we interact with one another on a daily basis!

As our society moves further and further away from belief in God and submission to His authority, we see more and more evidence that our society no longer values individuals because of their intrinsic God-created value, but rather values a person based on how well that individual performs in functions and tasks valued by the society.  No issue demonstrates this more vividly than the issue of elective abortion in the United States.

In a society that freely allows elective abortion at any stage of pregnancy, there is a group of organizations that rises up with a loud and clear voice, saying “STOP!”  The Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater St. Louis (PRC) is one of those organizations.  PRC provides free pregnancy testing, counseling and ultrasounds for those affected by unplanned pregnancies.  PRC has a program of education for teens, promoting pre-marital abstinence as the best choice.  PRC offers a post abortion Bible study that teaches God’s love and forgiveness, and thereby promotes true healing from the brutality of elective abortion.  PRC has a program for men, promoting godly responsibility and leadership.  Each of these programs seeks to teach the truth of the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, recognizing that a personal relationship with God is the only long-term solution to the problems facing those who seek help at the PRC.  These programs are impacting the greater St. Louis Metropolitan area.  Women are choosing life, and men and women are accepting the gift of eternal life.

As you might expect, running programs such as these takes money, and it takes the dedication and commitment of a competent staff and many well trained and effective volunteers.  Many are called to be substantial donors to the PRC, while

many others are called to become part of the PRC staff or to become regular volunteers.  Praise God for each of those who are so called.  However, there are many others reading this article who may be feeling God’s call upon them to get involved in some way, but you know that you are unable to become a regular volunteer.  Each of you is critical to the continuance of this outreach, and the upcoming Walk4Life might be the perfect opportunity for you to be a part of this vital ministry.
The Walk4Life utilizes hundreds of volunteers who each solicit sponsors for a two-mile walk to be held on Saturday, May 8th.  Sponsors commit to a donation to the PRC that could be as small as five or ten dollars, or as large as the Lord puts on their heart. Thus the Walk serves two very important functions -- first, as a fundraiser and secondly as a means of spreading the word about PRC. This year PRC leadership is praying that it will be able to raise at least $100,000 which would double the amount raised last year. They are also praying that as walkers ask their neighbors, friends, co-workers and relatives for pledges, more and more people will become aware of the importance of the ministry work done by the PRC. God may very well use these contacts to raise up new regular donors and volunteers.

So we encourage each of you to take the sponsor form that is enclosed in this issue of the MetroVoice and begin seeking sponsors.  After you have reached at least $150 in total commitments, you will receive a free T-shirt promoting the Walk4Life.  You can then wear that shirt as you continue to seek additional sponsors.  Finally, we will see you at Creve Coeur Park on Saturday, May 8th, from 9 a.m. to noon - where together we will have a great time walking, lifting our voices in songs of praise and enjoying great fellowship!
