PRC Begins New Ministry for Men;
The Other Half of the Equation
By Kurt Ramspott
Men are an
absolutely integral part of a very disturbing statistic; three precious unborn
children lose their lives in this country to the perils of abortion every
minute. At this rate, every nine days there would be enough children to fill
the stands at a local baseball game here in
If there are three children that lose their lives to abortion every minute that means over a million and a half women in this country have been moved to a serious point of desperation. Those women feel all hope is lost unless they make the radical decision to end the life of the child within them. Yet, when I consider this astonishing number of women, another overwhelming number comes clearly into focus. Today, over a million and a half men are part of this dilemma.
Men find themselves bewildered, frightened and confused over the announcement, “I’m pregnant.” I know what they are thinking. I’ve been there. When I was in my second year of college I found out my girlfriend was pregnant with my child. This fact has propelled me into the ministry I am writing you about today.
Today, the Pregnancy Resource Centers of Greater St. Louis (PRC) stand poised to meet the needs of pregnant women. They are prepared to rally around women and lead them to wise decisions preserving the new life within them. But something is missing. What about the other half of this equation? What is the PRC doing to assist, console and educate men – the other half of the equation who most often pressure women to abort their children?
In September, the PRC‘s of St. Louis decided to address this problem and I have accepted the call into this Gospel outreach ministry full-time. I am compelled to prepare a bold new extension of vision for PRC. Some of the challenges I face are not currently being addressed anywhere by anyone, such as the task to effectively reach men of all ages and teaching them the value of leadership and relationship modeling. I want to reach men in new dynamic ways before, during, and after pregnancy with a mentoring program, resources, and referrals for their new family to succeed.
It is my
contention that men can do more and can do better in advancing the cause to
preserve life. If you are interested in learning more, becoming a volunteer,
prayer partner, or financial supporter of this new and exciting opportunity
