FamilyLife Marriage Conference Set for Nov. 21-23

Have you ever wondered if it is possible to bring real love, love that lasts a lifetime into your marriage?  Have you ever asked how you can grow closer to your spouse, to forgive the hurts and wounds of the past and love them the way Christ does?  If you are starting out in marriage, where do you go to find out what God says about marriage?  Where you can get practical tools for everyday use?

To help you find the answers to these and many more questions related to your marriage, A Weekend to Remember FamilyLife Marriage Conference is coming to St. Louis November 21st through the 23rd which will be held at the Frontenac St. Louis Hilton (at the intersection of Highway 40 and Lindbergh). The purpose of this article is to answer some of the questions you may have concerning the event; however, the only way to get all of your questions answered is to attend.

Weekend Description

Typically, conferences are a group event held in the ballroom of a hotel with anywhere from 250 to 500 couples in attendance. The event consists of a series of talks by speakers and projects to be completed by the couples. Conference speakers (who are experts in the area of marriage) are generally pastors, authors or businessmen who are not only interesting and humorous, but are able to relate to the audience with stories from their own lives as they share God’s blueprint for marriage.

The weekend begins Friday evening with a presentation entitled Barriers to Oneness in Marriage.  Most people relate only too well to these ‘barriers’ and find themselves following the world’s plan for marriage, which leads to isolation.  Later Friday evening, couples retire to the first of a series of couples projects designed to improve communication and oneness.  Saturday morning the focus is on God’s Purpose, Plan and Power for Marriage.  Following lunch (and a project) attendees hear talks on improving communications and sexual intimacy in marriage.  Saturday night is assigned to be ‘Date Night‘ -- an evening which is truly memorable as couples rekindle their romance. Sunday morning is reserved for split sessions with the male and female speakers addressing their respective gender groups.  Many say this is the best time of the weekend as the ‘rubber hits the road’.  Men are coached on their roles as husbands and fathers while women receive insight into their roles as wives and mothers.  Sunday afternoon focuses on Conflict Resolution.  Giving a Blessing for a Curse is the theme. This can be revolutionary when put into practice.

Purpose

FamilyLife Marriage Conferences are designed to equip couples with proven principles for strengthening marriages regardless of how long they’ve been married. They’re ideal for those who are planning to marry.

During the conference, you'll learn how to: receive your mate as a gift; clarify your role as a husband or wife; resolve conflict in the relationship; maintain a vital sexual relationship; express forgiveness to one another; and increase your commitment, creating an even deeper level of intimacy.

Our Roots

In providing the blueprints for marriage, the roots of FamilyLife go back to 1951, with the beginning of Campus Crusade for Christ.  In 1976, Campus Crusade began to provide pre-marriage seminars for its staff members. Following our success in meeting the needs of pre-marrieds, married staff couples began asking for encouragement through marriage seminars. Community leaders and pastors soon found out about the seminars and said they were exactly what couples needed -- the blueprints on how to build strong homes. Family Ministry, now called FamilyLife, opened the FamilyLife Marriage Conference to the public in 1978.

This year more than 130 FamilyLife Marriage Conferences will be held in almost every major city in America. These weekend conferences offer hope to tens of thousands of marriages.
