Best Choice Sexual Integrity Training Workshops to be Held August 22 & 23

Best Choice Sexual Integrity Training combines student involvement with oral presentations, including a slide presentation on sexually transmitted diseases given by trained medical volunteers. The program is presented in public and private schools, in shelters and to church youth groups as well.

The program teaches that sexual abstinence is the only 100% safe form of ‘safe sex’ and is the healthiest choice for the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of young people. In our community which ranks fourth highest nation-wide for infections of Gonorrhea and among the top ten for Syphilis and Chlamydia, this program educates students about the realities of diseases spreading even when practicing so called ‘safe sex’ with a condom.

Best Choice also teaches that abstinence is the best preparation for marriage because it focuses on self-control, putting others first and setting goals. Students are challenged to evaluate how their choices today will affect their short and long-term goals. Students have stated that they have been encouraged to pursue secondary virginity and express relief at having a second chance to establish healthy future relationships.

Student participation has been enthusiastic because they are encouraged to discuss issues that are important to them. Over a period of four days, students are exposed to the most up-to-date information available. This information helps students make informed decisions about their sexual behavior.

If you are a born-again Christian and passionate about Abstinence Education, you have an opportunity to volunteer as a speaker!  Best Choice volunteer training workshops will be held Friday, August 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New Covenant Church, 1401 Timberlake Manor Parkway in Chesterfield, MO. Snacks and drinks will be provided but trainees are encouraged to bring a sack lunch for the Saturday training session.

The cost is $15 which covers all presentation materials and a Missouri criminal record check. Those completing the training will have the opportunity to make presentations approximately one or two times each month which can be worked around the presenters schedule. To sign up for one of the workshops or to obtain more information contact the Best Choice Program Coordinator, Emily Limbaugh, by calling (314) 783-3040, Ext. 229 or via e-mail at Emilylimbaugh@prcmo.net.
