National Right to Life Convention

to be Held in St. Louis July 3-4-5

Every June since 1972 there has been a hot spot somewhere in the United States where thousands of individuals from all over the country have gathered to exchange ideas, share information and join together in the common and committed goal of ensuring protection for all innocent human life.  The hot spot in 2003 will be in downtown St. Louis at the Hyatt Regency at Union Station where more than a thousand pro-life individuals are expected to gather for the 31st annual National Right to Life Convention (NRLC) July 3rd through the 5th.

Year after year NRLC manages to cram an unbelievable amount of expert information into three days: 60 workshops, four general sessions, a prayer breakfast, a formal banquet as well as a concurrent program for young people that features 21 workshops and five general sessions geared specifically toward teens and college-age attendees.

The convention in 2003 will be no different than its 30 predecessors with many well known expert speakers presenting a wide and diverse range of workshops and general sessions.

The entire list of presenters at this year's convention is too extensive to put into this article, but some of the more notable speakers include film critic Michael Medved, national director of Priests for Life, Fr. Frank Pavone, Bishop Joseph B. Naumann, Dr. Joel Brind, Dr. Bryon Calhoun, Dr. Carolyn Gerster, Reverend James Lamb, author Wesley Smith, Hollywood entertainer Ben Stein and Jeff Cavins of EWTN’s “Life on the Rock.”

As in past years, convention attendees will have trouble trying to select their workshop choices since the workshops cover an extremely wide array of significant topics including many issue-oriented themes such as:  risks of a subsequent premature birth following abortion; the economic impact of abortion; the link between abortion and breast cancer; post-abortion trauma; trends in public opinions; the eugenic connection to abortion; cloning and human embryo farms; pro-life issues at the United Nations; what’s wrong with assisted suicide; the impact of managed care; outreach to Hispanic and African American communities; working with college campuses; providing real alternatives to women in crisis.

Many other workshops are geared toward the hands-on, day-to-day dealing of pro-life groups.  These will include: media relations; mastering the internet; public speaking; membership development; raising and managing money; the positive impact of grassroots lobbying; and computer technology.

National Right to Life and affiliate host, Missouri Right to Life, urges all pro-lifers not to miss this unique, dynamic opportunity to meet with other pro-life individuals from all corners of the country and share the most up-to-date information from experts on those issues that threaten the right of some to their very lives.
