CHEF Conference & Curriculum Fair June 25-26

 

            Christian Home Educators Fellowship (CHEF) will host their 19th annual Homeschool Conference and Curriculum Fair on June 25 and 26 at the Heart of St. Charles Banquet Center, located on the northeast corner of Interstate 70 and 5th Street in St. Charles, MO.  Committed to nurturing and equipping families to raise up godly children, CHEF has once again gathered together some of the best and godly speakers and educational resources for their conference.

            This year’s lineup of speakers includes Doug Phillips whose profound messages so transformed families last year that CHEF was delighted to have him return this year.  His workshops this year will include: The Heroism of the Fathers is the Legacy of the Sons, Controversies in American History, Uniting Church and Home and Wisdom from Our Experience.  Phillips is the director of Vision Forum Ministries, a discipleship and training ministry that emphasizes Christian apologetics, worldview training, multi-generational faithfulness and creative solutions whereby fathers can play a maximum role in family discipleship. He is also a constitutional attorney, author and serves as Adjunct Professor of Apologetics for the Institute for Creation Research.

            Other notable speakers will include:

Dr. Jeff Myers, author of Of Knights & Fair Maidens: A Radical New Way to Develop Old-Fashioned Relationships; From Playpen to Podium: How to Give Your Children the Communication Advantage in Every Area of Life; Secrets of Great Communicators (a video coaching system); For Such a Time As This: Becoming a Millennial Leader; Secrets of the World-Changers and How to Achieve Lasting Influence as a Leader (video series & study guide). Dr. Myers is also owner of the consulting firm Myers Institute for Communication and Leadership, and a staff member with Summit Ministries.

Dr. Myers’ workshops will include: The Secrets of Great Communicators; What Happened When We Kissed Dating Goodbye; Breakthrough Leadership; Discernment – Raising a Thought-full Child; The Blessing – How to Transform Your Home, Church and Community and Rescuing Your Children from the Culture of Irresponsibility.

Steve Demme is the author of Math-U-See, a hands-on math curriculum and founder of the Math-U-See Foundation (a non-profit corporation which assists and encourages parents and families with cassettes, booklets, and other helpful resources). A former math teacher, Demme has taught all levels of math in public, private, and Christian schools and addresses a variety of topics at homeschool conferences to encourage parents in their God-given responsibilities of raising and training their children for the glory of God. He is also a frequent presenter at ACSI and other Christian school teacher conventions.

Mr. Demme’s workshops will include: Seeing Fractions Is Understanding Fractions; A Wise Son Makes a Glad Father; The Christian Home and the Family Alter; The Family that Stays Together, Stays Together and Courtship, Dating, Breaking Cycles for the Next Generation or Raising Godly Seed.

Dr. S. M. Davis has been serving the Lord in many different capacities since surrendering to the ministry in November of 1967. He has been a minister of music, associate pastor, and presently is pastor of Park Meadows Baptist Church in Lincoln, Illinois, where he has served since 1975.  Dr. Davis speaks at churches and conventions across the country with messages which provide biblical solutions to many critical family problems. His tape ministry, comprised of 70 video tapes and 82 audio tapes, reaches all over the United States and into many foreign countries.

Dr. Davis’ workshops will include: Changing the Heart of the Rebel; Freedom from the Spirit of Anger; Why Satan Wants Your First Born; Breaking Family Curses and The Influence of Older Children on the Young Ones.

 Andrew Pudewa is a teacher and home schooling father of seven who lectures and conducts workshops on the topics of writing, early childhood and music education throughout North America. He is a strong proponent of the classical model with an emphasis on excellence in teaching. Throughout the year Pudewa teaches both at home in Atascadero, California, and around the country, conducting workshops for students, teachers, and parents. A graduate of the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan, he also holds a Certificate of Child Brain Development from the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Pudewa’s workshops will include: Instant Improvement in Writing; Reaching the Reluctant Writer; Teaching and Evaluating Writing; Nurturing Competent Communicators; Teaching Toward the Research Paper and The Profound Influence of Music on Life.

Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler is an evangelist and historian as well as the founder of Mantle Ministries. Wheeler’s historical video tapes and audio family devotional tapes are a must for every Christian family and include titles such as: Who's In Charge Anyway? which deals with God-ordained parental authority; Churchianity which addresses protecting one's family in today’s age-segregated, family-fractured society; Father's Shoes + Mother's Apron=God's Mantle concerning raising difficult children; God's Mighty Hand/Mandate to Preserve America; and Shoot the TV & Start Reading. He also has a historical devotion series with corresponding workbooks which covers a period from 1300 to1900.

Mr. Wheeler’s workshops will include: Warning: Dating is No Game Parts 1 & 2; Be On Guard (The Sergeant Driscoll Story) Parts 1 and 2; Teenage Mutant Teenagers Parts 1 & 2.

Candy Summers, along with her husband Jon, have been leaders of Christian Home Educators Fellowship since 1993 and served as leaders of the North St. Louis County Christian Home School Association from 1987 to 1998. Candy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education but has chosen to homeschool her children since 1980. She has authored a book titled There’s No Place Like Home and publishes a bi-monthly newsletter by the same title.

Mrs. Summers will be presenting a three part seminar for new homoschoolers.

Those who just wish to attend the curriculum fair do not have to pre-register and are welcome to attend the fair for only $7 per individual or $10 per couple which will be collected at the door.
