Publisher's Note
Federal, state and county level candidates in Missouri and Illinois were all presented with a statement/question related to the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Candidates were asked to choose which statement best described their position/opinion. The following are those statements/questions.
State and County level candidates received this set of statement questions.
2. Concealed Carry & the Second Amendment
[a] The control of firearms to reduce or eliminate crime and protect our children is extremely important. The Second Amendment only applies to the National Guard, not to the general population. Missouri law should stay as it is and not allow citizens to carry concealed weapons.
[b] The Second Amendment broadly protects the rights of citizens to keep and bear arms. Gun control laws infringe upon those rights and are a violation of the Constitution and the original intent of the Second Amendment. Missouri should allow law-abiding citizens the right to carry concealed weapons.
Federal level candidates received this statement/question.
3. The Second Amendment
The Second Amendment broadly protects the rights of individual Americans to keep and bear arms. Gun control infringes upon those rights and violates the original intent of the Second Amendment.
I agree (A)______ I disagree (D)______ I am undecided (U)______
In the opinion of the St. Louis MetroVoice, the correct choice/answer to our State and County level question was, [b]. The correct choice/answer to our Federal level statement/question was, I Agree (A).
Any candidate who chose [a] at the State and County level, or disagreed or was undecided at the Federal level, is either ignorant of the real reason why our Founding Fathers put the Second Amendment in our Constitution or has no regard for freedom and liberty.
